when we three get together, it’s always a good time. laughter never ends, chatting never stops and eating never, ever ends.
so according to bangkok city hipsters, vogue lounge apparently is the new hot place to be. it’s a semi-rooftop bar located on the sixth floor of mahanakhon cube (where dean and deluca is located) and i’m not gonna lie – they say the bar is not affiliated with thai edition of vogue magazine by any means but the name did kinda intimidate me at first thinking it may be too vogue for my taste.
although the view was a little turned down by the construction sight right in front – to my surprise the atmosphere was rather laid back and not too posh as you’d expect vogue to be. oh and i even saw parents bringing their little kids. #someonechecktheirIDplease
so here, we were told hideyuki saito, an award winning bartender mixes up some awesome creation of classic cocktails buuut we all so happen to have driven and opted for mocktails instead which tasted like kid’s cold syrup.
with leather seatings, bronze bar stools, marble counters, every little detail was all oh-so-glam and beautifully designed and decorated but if i must – i think the marble counter trend is being way too overused and every café and bars are starting to look alike.. wait, weren’t we talking about rocket?
this is where things got a little unexpected. so, there’s this whole hype around vincent thierry, a renowned chef from hong kong’s two-michelin-starred restaurant, who was brought here to do his magic. the staffs informed us that the food here (all priced at 350 thb) are bite-size and when it came out we understood why they felt the need to warn us prior to it. it was literally. a. bite. size. sure it was beautifully presented like a work of art but… a single scallop, really? we ended up binging at dean and deluca afterwards and the portion never seemed bigger.
